Blessed Life Group Thanksgiving Food Drive: Sharing Gratitude Through Community Impact
The Blessed Life Group with Keller Williams Realty is proud to announce our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, continuing a powerful tradition of giving back to families facing food insecurity across Austin and Central Texas. This year, we're collecting non-perishable food donations to help local families celebrate the holiday season with nourishment and hope.
A Long-Standing Tradition of Community Service
Keller Williams Realty's commitment to community service runs deep in Austin. The company's annual food drive partnership with the Central Texas Food Bank has been a cornerstone of local hunger relief efforts for over three decades. In fact, 2025 marks the 32nd Annual Keller Williams Food Drive in Austin, demonstrating the real estate industry's sustained dedication to addressing food insecurity in our community.
The impact of these collective efforts has been extraordinary. During the 23rd annual event, Keller Williams agents distributed 10,500 bags across Austin neighborhoods and collected more than 14,400 pounds of food, providing 14,300 meals for families facing hunger in Central Texas. The following year, the drive created more than 14,700 meals, and the tradition continues to grow with ambitious goals each year.
Why This Matters Now More Than Ever
The need for food assistance in Central Texas has never been more urgent. Currently, the Central Texas Food Bank serves more than 600,000 residents—numbers that haven't been witnessed in over ten years. Even more sobering, the organization is now serving more people than at the peak of the pandemic.
Texas faces a critical hunger crisis. The state has the second-highest rate of food insecurity in the nation at 16.9%, meaning one in six Texans struggle to access adequate food. In Travis County specifically, nearly 188,000 residents, or 14.6% of the population, are food insecure. The situation is particularly dire for children, with 1 in 5 Texas children experiencing hunger.
Several factors have contributed to this escalating crisis. The phasing out of COVID-19 assistance programs, coupled with persistent inflation, has made it increasingly difficult for families to afford groceries. The Central Texas Food Bank reports that more than 16% of adults and 25% of children in the region are food insecure, meaning they don't know where their next meal will come from.
How the Blessed Life Group Food Drive Works
Our food drive makes it simple for neighbors to help neighbors. We distribute bags throughout Austin neighborhoods, asking community members to fill them with healthy non-perishable food items. This year, our pickup date is November 13th—simply leave your filled bag on your front porch by 10:00 AM, and we'll collect it.
Can't participate in the bag program? You can still make a difference by visiting our website at www.BlessedLifeGroup.com or dropping off donations directly. Every contribution—no matter the size—helps local families celebrate Thanksgiving with dignity and abundance.
The Ripple Effect of Giving
Food drives like ours don't just provide meals; they strengthen the entire fabric of our community. When Keller Williams agents participate in these initiatives, they're embodying the company's foundational belief system: to give back in the communities we serve. This culture of contribution extends far beyond a single day or event.
The Central Texas Food Bank has been a trusted hunger-relief partner for 38 years, bringing 39 million meals into the community in recent years. When you donate to our food drive, you're joining this powerful network of compassion, ensuring that families can focus on other necessities like housing, medicine, and utilities rather than choosing between rent and food.
A Blessed Life is One That Gives Back
At the Blessed Life Group, we believe that true abundance comes from sharing what we have with others. As our food drive flyer states: "Because a Blessed Life is one that gives back!" This Thanksgiving season, we're grateful for our community's support and for the opportunity to "share the real estate of gratitude" with families who need it most.
Food insecurity affects every zip code and crosses all demographic boundaries. Many of the families served by food banks are working households—people who, despite holding jobs, still can't afford adequate nutrition due to the rising cost of living. In Central Texas, approximately 52% of those facing hunger have a family income over the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) threshold, meaning they earn too much to qualify for government assistance but still struggle to make ends meet.
Join Us in Making a Difference
This Thanksgiving, we invite you to be part of something greater. Whether you fill one of our collection bags, make a monetary donation, or simply spread the word about our food drive, your contribution will directly impact Austin families experiencing food insecurity.
Together, we can ensure that every family in our community has access to a nourishing Thanksgiving meal. Because when we come together as neighbors, real estate professionals, and community members, we create powerful change that extends far beyond the holiday season.
Let's share and care together this Thanksgiving. Fill a bag, feed a family, and help us continue this meaningful tradition of giving back to the Austin community we love.
